There was certainly a ton of news in 2018 around data and data privacy. The world has had to begin dealing with GDPR as well as new privacy laws either passed or enacted. From the EU and Brazil to the U.S. with States such as California and Colorado, it feels as though the U.S. is on the march toward a federal U.S. privacy law.
Will privacy law make it to the federal level in 2019? That question is up to lawmakers but there is movement again on new legislation known as the Data Care Act which now has support of 15 Democratic senators. A great write-up can be found on The Privacy Advisor at IAPP.
